OUR STORY

Sometimes you want to make a long story short, but when there’s over 40 years of history, it’s almost impossible. So here is our story...

We are four daughters of Italian immigrant parents, making us first-generation Canadians. Growing up in the East End of Montreal, we lived comfortably and humbly, and can proudly say we never lacked any necessities. How we got to the USA is a whole other chapter of this story; in a nutshell, one of the four sisters married an American.

We give credit to our mother, who at 16 years old, was thrown into the workforce to help her parents financially while getting settled in a new country. She learned to sew at a young age and was very good at it. At 18, she got married, had four children, and did what she could to make sure we were always taken care of. During our mother’s 40 years as a sewer, she was employed at a factory manufacturing swimwear. This is where she, along with some of her coworkers, would dumpster dive to salvage pieces of Spandex and Lycra material to make hair ties. With the ties she made, we never had to worry about buying expensive ties to hold our thick Italian hair back. As we grew older and started using these ties on our children’s hair, we realized we had something special not found in stores. This was further evident when we gifted these ties to family and friends, and they confirmed they were the best ties they’ve ever used.

Having this amazing and unique accessory, we decided we needed to share it with the world. Not only do our hair ties hold a firm grip on the hair, but they also don’t damage hair as other ties do. The Spandex and Lycra fabrics glide off the hair when removing it, causing little to no damage to all types of hair.

We are forever grateful to our mother for doing what she did with what little she had. We have been proudly wearing her hair ties for over 40 years, and we finally took the reins and we’re changing the way hair is supposed to be tied.
